We are looking for a highly motivated test engineer that will mainly be responsible from carrying out various types of measurements and acquiring data on Cisco hardware equipment. This position will report to the Technical Leader of Thermal Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering Manager. Responsibilities for this position include but not limited to:

  • Working closely with the engineering teams to design test matrices and schedule resources/hardware/software.
  • Preparing necessary software, hardware and samples for testing.
  • Developing / modifying scripts or thermal tools to reduce post-processing time.
  • Reworking PCB’s and soldering when necessary.
  • Building and installing thermocouples, and using IR technique to conduct thermal measurements.
  • Designing and constructing experimental fixtures and setup for wind tunnels and controlled environmental chambers.
  • Operating, moving and working on heavy, large scale equipment.
  • Conducting thermal, airflow and acoustic measurements at various length scales.
  • Conducting post-processing: performing basic data analysis and basic data presentation.
  • Conducting generic laboratory support and maintenance.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum education: Associates (2-year) degree in Mechanical/Thermal technology or Science/Mathematics.  Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical/Thermal preferred.
  • Good knowledge/use of MS or Open Office is a must.
  • Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Enthusiastic about learning new techniques and applying them on relevant testing.
  • 2 years of experience in a product development and/or qualification environment. (can be waived/reduced for higher educational degrees).
  • Design of and manufacturing of fixtures for experiments, components for prototypes, etc.
  • Able to follow the given test procedures accurately and consistently.
  • Must be experienced in thermal measurements with thermocouples, thermistors, IR cameras and other relevant techniques.
  • Familiarity with CAD. PTC Creo is a plus.
  • Familiarity with airflow and/or wind tunnel measurements.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits: Ohm’s law, series vs. parallel resistances, etc.
  • Implementing test plans: setting up and conducting tests or experiments with attention to detail.
  • Good troubleshooting skills with simple electrical circuits/experiments.
  • Ability to use and interpret data from DAQ systems, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Acquiring raw data accurately; performing basic analyses and data reduction (ex., creating tables and graphs, etc. in Excel and Word).
  • Maintaining laboratory and equipment.

Optional Skills:

  • Familiarity with acoustic measurements.
  • Familiarity with network equipment, config and setup.
