Cisco Transceiver Module Group is seeking a mechanical engineer for creating part models, assemblies, drawings and design revisions in CAD to support optical transceiver modules and necessary mechanical fixtures.
The candidate will coordinate and track documentation from design phase to product release, incorporating input from multiple organizations including Photonic Integrated Circuit, CMOS IC, ASIC, and module hardware teams.
This individual will be working closely in a larger team with mechanical designers, system architects, ASIC engineers, Package engineers and other very talented and knowledgeable SI engineers in creation of next generation, high performance optical transceiver modules.
Responsibilities and Desired Skills:
The responsibilities will include but are not limited to, the creation & modification of product design documentation files such as Solidworks parts, assemblies, and drawings
Oversee the review & updates of Contractor Manufacturer documentation, DFM updates and Solidworks files
Coordinate & track documentation from design phase to product release, incorporating input from multiple organizations
Fixture & Tooling design & fabrication: Engage with engineers to define fixture and tooling requirements, as well as supply houses for drawings, quotations, fabrication, assembly, and design verification
A solid understanding of various manufacturing techniques; machining, diecast, injection molding highly preferred
Capable of reverse engineering Solidworks 3D models to fix or remodel part, with a solid understanding of the feature tree
Able to recreate old models and copy part features into new models for more robust designs
Management of files within the Solidworks PDM Vault
Support dimensional inspection, verification and fit of incoming parts, including use of a measurement microscope
Additional lab support as require
Minimum Requirements:
Must have experience with parametric 3D solid modeling (Solidworks, Creo)
Minimum 3 years Solidworks Experience, advanced users highly preferred
BSME or ME Associates or Equivalent
Mechanical Tooling and fixture design for testing and assembly equipment
Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, diecast and injection molding desired
General understanding of Design Documentation (internal Part Numbers, Part Revisioning practices)
General understanding of Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Solidworks and Vault administration (Enterprise PDM) is highly desirable
Experience with Windows Office EXCEL & PowerPoint
Photonics experience or knowledge preferred but not required
